Report and letters regarding the invasion of South Carolina, 1706.

Report (5 p.), entitled "An Account of [ye] Invasion of South Carolina by the French & Spaniards In the Month of August 1706," is a narrative of daily events which occurred during the invasion of Charleston (S.C.) and surrounding coastal regions. A postscript states: "We have now in all about two hundred & thirty prisoners French & Spaniards." Nicholas Trott's letter (1706 Nov. 4) submits the report about the invasion to the Crown. On the same folded sheet is a copy of a letter (1706 Sept. 16) to the Queen from the Governor and Council of Carolina which reports on the French and Spanish prisoners, asks for more military protection for the province, and suggests that it would be a "great advantage" for the English to take Saint Augustine.
